Learning About Social Media

Hello Everyone:
It seems just yesterday the only thing that buzzed in the office was the telepone, fax machine and coffee pot!  These days not only are those items still standard office main stays many more more things are buzzing and have been added to our way of communicating with peers and clients, and it has a name: Social Media.

Ok I know what many of the communication and marketing tools are - from twitter to blogs to podcasts to linkedin to facebook to videos the list goes one ~ the question I'm asking myself now is: What's our strategy as a company and how can we best serve our members and ALL professional women that need resources and connections....through Social Media!

So we have embarked on three things:
1) Reading ~ Currently reading Dave Evans' book "Social Meida Marketing an Hour a Day" recommended to me by one of our EWN Social Media and Technology experts!
2) Meeting with many wonderful "Social Media" experts and developing a concept and plan for our company to move forward.
3) Moving forward - so we are not left behind in this revolutionary way we market and communicate in the 21st Century.

Here's what I have learned - everyone is talking.....whether good or bad or indifferenct - so we all need to start ~ everyone has opinions - and so do you now it's time to add your feedback ~ and with Social Media instant feedback and you, your company and your services becomes an even more valuable marketing tool!

Stay tuned.....the journey never ends and enjoying the ride along the way makes everything seem worthwhile.  Georgia Dudley, Founder, Empowering Women Network, Inc.

Leadership Now ~ Let's Start Reading Again

Hello Everyone......In this fast paced, twitter crazed, podcast listening world ~ has reading taken the back seat? Think ~ what was the last book you read?  If you have to think about it probably been a long time and yet we all know that reading teaches us.
So what to read?  What interests you? ~ that's what you read. I also suggest you choose from "living" writers and those who are now longer with us. Include some autobiographies and biographies of those writers you enjoy the most. Understanding who they are brings a deeper understanding of their work.
So I will not suggest - Books or Writers although it's very difficult not to jot down a few here and now....Here's the deal ~ you cannot go wrong with the classics....you cannot go wrong "typically" with those writers who have written many books.
Oh the joy of reading....
Next week....the joy of ART!
